Built in 1946 and 1947, it opened on May 1, 1947 with a seating capacity of 4,000. From 1947 to 1955, it served as the home field for the Hot Springs Bathers, a minor league baseball team that played in the Cotton States League. From 1948 to 1951, it served as a Spring Training site for the Chicago White Sox organization.
